Featured Poetry: True Colours, More than Skin Deep

I wrote this poem for a writing challenge I participated in.
It speaks to the curiosity my then 5 year old daughter had around our differing skin colours.
And my trepidation around the narratives her curiosity asked me to tell. At the time I was reluctant to share the poem more widely, afraid of the polarised discussions it could enter me into.
And yet the words have sat with me, unforgotten, making me restless perhaps with their ask for release into territory where they can do what they do best:
Invoke. Provoke and Evoke.
With that said, here's to letting the words go so they can find their own little place in the world.
