WOW! Did I just write that?

Imagine this: you put your pen down, you re-read what you’ve just written and you have to pause. Your breath taken away by the words you put to the page. An awe, a reverence, a pride-filled surprise that gasps “wow, did I really just write that?”

As a book writing guide, that’s what I want your writing to invoke. First and foremost for yourself.

Because I know it’s this energy of WOW!, when supported by writing technique and your story, that draws your reader into your words and keeps them there.

Page after page. Until the whole book is read.

But for so many writer’s we stop before we get there.

We fall prey to our own judgement and the sentiments of our inner critic untamed.

We censor and self-edit until the essence of our work is gone.

We walk away from our words. Deflated. Despondent.

Or we don’t.

And instead get curious - asking only two questions of our work:

What really wants to be said here? And how does it want to be said?

Then we stay true to that.

Word after word. Until our work is done.

So when we put the pen down. Amazed. We know we’ve served our reader, because…

WOW! You really just wrote that.
